NPR’s reporting on the second wave of COVID-19 in India was shameful. It chose to use a picture of the mass funeral pyres in its report without any regard for the fact that funeral pyres are sacred to Hindus. It also showed an utter lack of humanity by engaging in speculative scaremongering about the intense misery that Hindu Indians were likely to endure during the peak of the second wave of the pandemic. Overall, NPR’s report used the suffering that had befallen India simply as an opportunity to criticize the current regime. NPR’s inhumane, shameful, and Hindudveshic coverage is contained in the article “India is counting thousands of daily COVID deaths; how many is it missing.”
