Dr. Sudhanshu Trivedi is a highly knowledgeable and influential figure in the realm of dharmic voices within the political sphere. Renowned for his compelling arguments, he adeptly combines shastras (ancient texts) with nuanced reasoning in all his debates.
Born in Lucknow in 1970, Sudhanshu Trivedi is a unique individual, holding the rare distinction of being a Mechanical Engineer with a doctorate in Mechanical Engineering. He commenced his career as a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Mahatma Gandhi Chitrakoot Gramoday Vishwavidyalaya before venturing into politics. His political journey began when he assumed the role of political advisor to Rajnath Singh, the President of BJP, in 2013. Additionally, he served as the information advisor to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Trivedi significantly contributed to the media and communications team during the 2014 general elections, actively participating in the campaigns of prominent political figures such as Sushma Swaraj, Arun Jaitley, and Amit Shah.[1] In the 2019 elections, Dr. Sudhanshu Trivedi was entrusted with the responsibility for Rajasthan, where the BJP achieved an overwhelming victory, securing 24 out of 25 seats with an impressive 61% vote share.[2] He has adeptly fulfilled his role as the National Spokesperson for the BJP, utilizing his position as a dharmic voice to counter Hinduphobic narratives prevalent in social and political arenas during prime-time debates.
Following the unfortunate passing of Arun Jaitley, Dr. Trivedi succeeded him by being elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha as a Member of Parliament. His influential presence and assertive stance are apparent across various facets of Indian socio-political discourse. As a Rajya Sabha MP, he actively contributes to parliamentary discussions, while on television debates, he articulates the BJP’s positions with conviction. Additionally, he serves as an agent of intellectual awakening, engaging in discussions and debates in numerous colleges and institutions and contributing significantly to the national dialogue. He is among the most consistently active members of the Rajya Sabha with his excellent attendance record of 95% and participation in 24 parliamentary debates with 24 questions he asked in the Rajya Sabha.[3]
Trivedi has displayed a keen sensitivity to instances of deep Hinduphobia and has notably called out Congress politicians for propagating the term “Hindu rate of growth” during their unchallenged rule across most of India until the 1990s. He squarely holds them accountable, blaming their adherence to Nehruvian socialist policies for the growth crisis that persisted during this period despite abundant potential and opportunities. According to him, the transformative efforts of non-Congress governments led to crucial reforms and developmental progress.
In a bold statement, Trivedi highlights the coincidence of India’s economic growth to the reconstruction of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, which he attributes to the advent of Ram Rajya. He elaborates how the nation’s growth trajectory moved post the discovery of the Ram Mandir beneath the Babri structure in the ’90s to the foundation-laying of the grand Ram temple and its ongoing construction.[4] He provocatively argues that since the opposition has labeled the BJP as a Hindutva party, the growth rate during their tenure should be termed the “Hindutva growth rate.” [5] [6]
Similar to J Sai Deepak, Sudhanshu Trivedi opposes the widely promoted notion by the Congress party that Gandhi was the sole father of the nation after India’s independence.[7] He has also been vocal in condemning Congress party leaders’ consistent derogation of Veer Savarkar.[8] Trivedi’s enlightening Ted Talk titled “India’s Journey from Zero to Infinity (& Beyond)” at TEDx Graphic Era University is an inspirational watch for all Indians who are proud of their heritage.[9] Additionally, his speech analyzing the rivalry between Ram and Ravan is both inspiring and thought-provoking, making it a worthwhile watch.
He has actively advocated for the rights of Kashmiri Pandits and strongly supported the abrogation of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir. Trivedi criticized Pt Nehru for introducing Article 35A, which led to the exploitation of the Valmiki community in Kashmir, compelling them to take up sweeping jobs due to constitutional discrimination outlined in Article 35A. In his address to the Parliament, he emphasized the positive developments in the region after the removal of Articles 370 and 35A.[10]
Trivedi is known for his straightforward approach, fearlessly addressing various issues and individuals’ shortcomings. He has criticized historical missteps by Pandit Nehru, the political controversies surrounding Gandhi, the liquor policy of the Aam Aadmi Party, the anti-Sanatan dharma speeches by Udhaya Nidhi of DMK, the academic oversight of Indian knowledge sciences, and the growing concerns about love jihad. Trivedi remains a vocal advocate for reason and logic, approaching each matter with composure and rationale. His provocative thoughts on how Buddhism is being wedged away from Sanatan dharma begs the answer to the obvious question of where Gautam Buddha stated about establishing a separate religion.[11]
Regarding love jihad, he cautions not only girls but also boys to remain cautious. He compares deceptive individuals to Ravanas and Shoorpankhas, warning both genders about people who may appear differently from how they truly are.[12]
He is one of the few people with a detailed understanding of India’s political history. In one of his interviews, he recounts how Congress leaders treated people who asked them uncomfortable questions.[13] Trivedi is one of the several voices that have called out the defamation of Veer Savarkar by Congress, its leaders, and affiliated institutions.[14]
To conclude, Sudhanshu Trivedi is an ideal dharmic voice exhibiting the essence of all-around learning, knowledge, and articulation that pro-dharma forces need to awaken the masses with a thought-provoking rationale and a grounded demeanor. Even as opponents in his debates rush over multiple positions, he always ensures his line of communication is made before the end, which leaves a lasting impact on the audience.
